Oklahoma City Thunder History
The Oklahoma City Thunder were originally founded as the Seattle SuperSonics in 1967. The SuperSonics relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008 after qualifying for the NBA playoffs 22 times, winning their division six times, advancing to three NBA Finals, and winning the NBA Championship in 1979.
The Thunder are now the only professional sports team in Oklahoma. After relocating to Oklahoma City, the Thunder qualified for their first playoffs in the 2009–10 season. During the 2010–11 season, they won their first division title and the following season they won their first Western Conference championship.
The 2011–12 season marked the team’s first appearance in the NBA Finals since 1996, but they have not yet won a championship since moving to Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City Thunder's name comes from a reference to Oklahoma's location in Tornado Alley, and Oklahoma City being the home of the U.S. Army's 45th Infantry Division, which were known as the Thunderbirds.
The Thunder began their rebuilding process in 2019 after acquiring All-Star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and drafting top prospects including Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren. The new era Thunder qualified for the 2023 play-in game and won their first match-up, but ultimately did not advance to the playoffs after falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Following the 2023–24 season, head coach Mark Daigneault won the league’s Coach of the Year Award.

Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center
The Thunder have played in the same arena since Oklahoma City acquired the franchise in 2008, but it underwent several name changes before settling on Chesapeake Energy Arena in 2011. In 2021, its name was changed to Paycom Center(Opens in new tab).
But the volume and rowdiness of that college atmosphere has carried over into Thunder games, giving the metro's arena and fanbase the nickname "Loud City.” OKC has also taken to color blocking its crowd, giving different sections different colored shirts, a practice that has spread and become common among all teams in the NBA.

Great environment, especially in the playoffs atmosphere. Great food and drink options and lots of gear to rep the team. Plan on going as much as possible in the future.
This was a heart breaking experience! I logged in 1 hour before the release of Away game watch party at Paycom. At 10:00 I got the circle of doom once I refreshed all the tickets were gone for the 13th. The worst part I got 2 tickets for the 11th game and I have to work.
Getting tickets for Loud City Live for the finals was nothing like it was two weeks ago for the playoff away games. Before, I got on at 6 minutes till and had 800 people in front of me waited 10 minutes, and got my tickets completely easy. This time, I got on the computer and phone 45 minutes before and waited patiently, at the time the event opened within 2 seconds everything was gone everything that popped up constantly was not available. Everything tickets o try is instantly not available. I've sat for 45 minutes trying to get tickets with no success! (And, I took off work just to get this done. Wasted nearly 2 hours of my time!) Last event for away playoffs was much smoother!!!!
I love going to Thunder games, but I'm disappointed in the resale prices to go to the finals. Those ticket prices are so outrageous that anybody who is a fan, if they wanted to go, they couldn't go because they couldn't afford it. I'll have to wear my lucky game 7 (against Denver) and lucky game 5 (against Minnesota) outfit at home or to a bar.
I am a great local fan of the OKC Thunder team and coaching staff. Ive purchased tickets for Game 5 and 7 Finals. In preparation for the Finals, I was hoping my experience with the staff at the Thunder Shop would have matched the professionalism and enthusiasm of our Players.

Loved the atmosphere Tuesday night. Venue was, as always, pretty neat.
I live in OKC and this was my first playoff game. I’ve been to regular season games with my boss’s 4th row tickets, but I can’t afford that for a playoff game. Our seats were in Loud City row M, and we had a good view. There really isn’t a bad seat in the house. I think it’s because it’s pretty steep up there, which keeps you on top of the court and not feeling like you are a mile back. Loud City seats are very close together, so you are nearly shoulder to shoulder with your neighbor. And it’s a tight squeeze if you need to get out of your row for anything. But we had a great time. Lots of food options up there. I love that we have playoff shirts at every game, provided by sponsors. And I like that our city and our fans are good natured people and love their team. Bring earplugs, everything is very loud.
