Houston Texans Team History

Established in 1999 as Houston’s second NFL franchise (after the Oilers moved and became the Titans), the Houston Texans did not participate in their first official NFL season until 2002. In their first home opener, the Texans beat the Dallas Cowboys, 19-10, becoming the first NFL expansion team to win their opening game since the Vikings beat the Bears in 1961.

The Texans secured their first big win as the AFC South champions in 2011 and clinched their first berth into the playoffs. They have since secured the title seven more times, in 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2024

I have been following the Lions and to date NRG stadium has been the best experience to date! Texans Fans welcomed me to tailgate with them (I made new friends), stadium was easy to navigate, lines were not extremely long for concessions or restrooms..& the self refill station was EVERYTHING!!!! The Texans chants & introductory video were epic during the game. A time was had! Thank you for an awesome experience. The traffic departing was the only issue.. it was jam packed. by Weslaco Texan fan on 10/2/24NRG Stadium - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

My day turned from a disaster to a great day thanks to an usher from the stadium. My son has autism and was reluctant to go to our seats. We were offer seats with less people and this man helped us coach are son to sit and enjoy the game. Wonderful staff and everyone in the stadium was very pleasant and friendly. Cant wait to go again. All staff were great but especially this one usher. Thank you to the entire Houston Texans organization for making this day memorable. Plus the Texans won with .28 seconds on the clock.

  • Need more bathrooms

by KGB on 1/17/24NRG Stadium - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

Long lines more men’s bathrooms. They should add porta-potties outside on the ramps when they know there is a sellout. Otherwise great fun!

  • Great experience, fans were great.

by Patrick on 1/16/24NRG Stadium - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

Every thing and almost everyone was great. The fans for both teams were awesome. Great atmosphere. The only issue I had personally was the usher at the top of my section was kinds rude as I was leaving and instead of saying thank you for coming to the game like I have become accustomed to at road parks from the employees. She was like goodbye in a rude and rubbing in the beating the team I root for just took. Not what I expected from an employee to say the least. I know they are fans of the team too, but as an employee of the team be professional. Everyone was on Christmas Eve when I went down for the game. Kind of expected the same when they won too.
