Shin Lim on Tour
Catching Shin Lim in the act is unlike watching any other magician perform. Instead of making people disappear or sawing them in half, he simply concentrates on card tricks. But he raises the level of his sleight of hand with a deck of cards to a fine art.
There's drama, music, and a kind of a ballet to Lim's magic. And he's known for performing his illusions without uttering a word, letting his hands and his cards do all the talking while his carefully curated music — Lim started out as a musician — tickles the audience's ears. If you've seen him in one of his many television appearances, be it Penn & Teller: Fool Us, America's Got Talent, or Jimmy Kimmel Live, then you've experienced only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to a Shin Lim live performance.
Shin Lim Background
Born in Vancouver to Singaporean parents and raised in Massachusetts, Shin Lim had two passions in his youth: music and magic. He was studying music in college when he learned that he was suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome. This discovery caused him to abandon playing the piano in favor of becoming a professional magician.
He got one of his first big breaks when he was given the chance to tour in China. Since he didn't speak the language, he kept silent during his tricks, and that practice became a signature of his shows. Bringing a bold, unprecedented artistry to the realm of card tricks, Lim really began to hit it big when he worked his magic on TV's Penn & Teller: Fool Us in 2015. The performance became a social media sensation that elevated his profile dramatically. Since then, he's frequently appeared on TV, twice becoming a winner on America's Got Talent. And he tours widely, taking his illusions everywhere from Las Vegas to Broadway.
It was great. The only criticism I had was, I had seen a few of those tricks on AGT. I just wish there was new material, but I bet it is hard to come up with new and fascinating things all the time. My mind was blown anyway. I didn't mind driving in the terrible weather to get there.
For a minute it started to the last trick, it was so exciting. Even the other magician that was performing was phenomenal.
the show was a disappointment because I thought Shim Lin only preformed 40 percent of the time. I paid decent money to see him instead you had some comedian up there cracking jokes for more than half the show
This was one of the BEST shows I have ever seen! It was fantastic. The magic tricks were, well, magic! There’s no other way to explain it! Shim Lim was amazing. And Ben Seidman.... hysterical! Together they made the perfect team. It was simply awesome. I loved every minute and would highly recommend this show!
Was awesome enjoyed the show. He included the entire audience in some of the tricks. Can't figure out how he does it, its just incredible.
He engaged with the audience by calling people up on stage . His magic is something I’ve never seen before. He was able to pull off his act with 4,000 people which was the most amazing thing I have ever seen . I would go back to see him perform 1,000 times . Definitely go!!!
I was blown away. He exceeded my expectations. Great performance. The audience gave him a standing ovation. You won’t be disappointed.

I was not that impressed because Shim Lim did all the tricks he did in American Got Talent. I was expecting something different....
Big fan of Shin Lim. My husband and I watched him on AGT and knew immediately he was an extremely talented person and was going to win it all, ! I kept telling my husband jokingly.....that’s because Shin went to my high school, Show was great. Only downside, I was late in looking for tickets and we were sitting back a ways. The way the lights are set to shine on the stage made it difficult to see Shin. Big screen in back was cloudy. Watched much smaller screen on left of stage. Shin Lim puts the mystery back into card tricks like no one else. What a talent. Great show for all ages.
Show was amazing and shin really knew how to interact with all of his fans even the little ones the meet and greet was okay would of wished we could spend a little more time with him it felt little bit rushed overall the show was great had a really great time !!
What a great show! My teenage kids, husband and I enjoyed the entire thing!! Shins magic was out of this world! His counterpart was also very talented and terrifically funny! Worth every dollar spent!
Great performer. Does amazing close up hand tricks. Would like several more screens to see his close up Magic. Possibly add more audience interaction by telling more himself and taking questions from the audience
This man is truly a showman and deserved every award he has received. Magic hands on the piano and on the cards. Would love to see him again. I'm putting that on my bucket list!!
This show was marvelous! The screens were large and strategically placed so we could all see the extreme closeups required for his type of magic. He's an amazing showman.
Both Shin and Ben were throughly entertaining. We took the whole family, ages ranging from 10 to 70 and everyone loved it!

We loved every moment of this amazing show. Shin Lim is truly a talented magician - we sat in the 4th row and I can honestly say that he makes me believe in magic!! Don't miss the chance to see this show!!
Of the show itself, Shin Lim remains the most mind-bending of sleight of hand card magicians to date. His fellow magician Ben Seidman is funny and charismatic and a great complement to Shin's insane set pieces. On the technical front, there's definite room for improvement in terms of the equipment and lighting for showing the close up acts. But theatre setup is hard and tricky, and the crew did a great job given the limited run and thus what I'd assume was a short window for bump in. Highly recommend seeing Shin Lim in person if you can!
The show was great! Shin Lim is an awesome performer to see in person. Unfortunately, the theater where the show was hosted (Chevalier Theater in Medford, MA) was not the best. My boyfriend and I sat in the right orchestra area, and the view from our seats was nothing like the view depicted online. Everyone sitting around us was saying the same thing, and we all agreed that the setting felt like that of a middle school concert. The theater was very tightly packed, and it was very hot and stuffy for the entire performance. Thankfully, a screen was provided in order to zoom in on the action of the show. BUT, the quality of the screen was poor as the image was dark and somewhat blurry. Overall, I highly recommend attending one of Shin Lim’s shows, but I do not recommend going to The Chevalier Theater for this type of performance (I could see it being a decent theater for comedy shows, but definitely not close-up magic shows).
