For many artists, a meteoric rise can often mean a sudden plateau. However, for 2X Grammy-nominated progressive heavy metal mainstays Spiritbox, there appears to be no end in sight on their near-constant ascent to the top. Formed in 2017 in the picturesque yet isolated region of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, by vocalist Courtney Laplante and guitarist Mike Stringer, Spiritbox would fully cement themselves as a household name in the summer of 2020 with the release of their blistering breakout single "Holy Roller," along with a host of other captivating singles shortly after, resulting in critical and commercial acclaim.
With new and existing fans eagerly watching their next move, Spiritbox, which also consists of drummer Zev Rose and bassist Josh Gilbert, exceeded every expectation imaginable in 2021 with the release of their genre-defining debut studio album Eternal Blue via Pale Chord/Rise Records. Eternal Blue, which debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, kicked open the doors of the heavy metal scene and rewrote the genre's playbook with 12 stunning tracks including the smash single, "Circle With Me."
Following a whirlwind touring cycle for Eternal Blue and the experimental 2022 Rotoscope EP, Spiritbox wrote and recorded their critically acclaimed EP, The Fear of Fear, released in November 2023. The EP featured the lead single "Jaded," which was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Exactly one year later, Spiritbox were nominated for a Grammy once again in the Best Metal Performance category, this time for the unapologetically heavy The Fear of Fear track "Cellar Door," which also inspired celebrated folk/doom metal artist Chelsea Wolfe to cover the song in stripped-down fashion on her latest EP, Unbound. With two Grammy nominations under their belt, Spiritbox have solidified their status as one of the most influential acts in modern metal today.
For fans patiently waiting for new music, Spiritbox satiated the demand this past September with the incendiary single "Soft Spine." The pummeling track took the band's signature visceral sound and dialed it up to eleven in terms of intensity and musicality to rave reviews. In October, the band also shared their most recent collaboration "TYG," with iconic rapper Megan Thee Stallion, with whom the band worked on last year's fan favorite remix of the song "Cobra."
After months of online speculation and rumors of a long-awaited new studio album, Spiritbox is now elated to announce their brand new sophomore LP, Tsunami Sea. Produced by longtime collaborator Dan Braunstein, along with Spiritbox guitarist Mike Stringer, Tsunami Sea is undoubtedly the band's most vulnerable and introspective release to date and the 11 track album finds the group not only returning to their roots but venturing into new waters as well at full steam. Along with the announcement of Tsunami Sea, Spiritbox shared the anthemic and melodically-driven new single "Perfect Soul." Tsunami Sea is out March 7th via Pale Chord/Rise Records BMG, and much like the title suggests, you can expect a tidal wave of exciting moments in the next chapter of Spiritbox's career.
All the bands were great but Spiritbox was amazing. Great songs great sound and just a great time!!!!
I love Courtney’s range and stage presence. The mix of heavy and mellower songs makes a great show. Absolutely incredible!
All the bands were great. The only issue I saw was with the in-house audio. At points the singers would get drowned out or the guitars would be too loud.
Venue was great show was fantastic. Everything ran smoothly and it was a great experience
Highly recommend getting VIP package. Made all the difference getting a good spot and not feeling rushed.
What an incredible experience! Courtney and the boys are hitting full stride with this album and it was amazing to get to see them live for the first time. Hearing most of the new songs and some of the classics in person really cemented them as my favorite band out right now. It was also really nice to see that they implemented the Face Value Exchange for this event to prevent the ridiculous price gouging that goes on with larger artists. Already looking forward to the next time they are in Atlanta!
First time at Vibrant Music Hall - first class venue. Spirit Box & openers were great.
First time at this venue. Arrived 30 minutes after doors and the place was packed. No opportunity to get in the pit/floor area at all. Had to stand in the back by the bar. I was very disappointed. Pit area so small and people packed in so tight that Courtney made a comment that they had to make a mini pit down in front of her (I’m accustomed to attending shows at small venues; saw sold out Sleep Token at the Hawthorn and had no trouble getting in the pit down close to the front). I wanted to get down there so bad for at least a song or two, but people were standing in the aisles and there was just no way to get any closer. Spiritbox played a good set. The majority of the songs they played were off their new album (obviously I know this tour is to promote their new album and they’re going to play those songs). I wish they had played a couple less new songs and a couple more older songs like “Ultraviolet” and “Yellowjacket” with Caleb from Beartooth. His appearance was a nice surprise. Loathe’s set was decent, but sound quality wasn’t awesome. I had a hard time hearing the lead singer. The performance of “Is It Really You?” was great!
Seeing Spiritbox live for the first time was one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve been a fan since their earliest days, from The Mara Effect era and beyond, so finally getting to witness their performance felt like a milestone. Travel and logistics have always been challenging for me, but everything aligned perfectly this time, making it possible to attend. I intentionally waited until they headlined a show to ensure I’d experience their full production value—and they didn’t disappoint for even a second. The setlist was flawless, and I was thrilled they revisited deeper cuts like Secret Garden and Rotoscope. 12/10—I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat if they ever come back to my area! 😆
I'm 49 years old and have been going to different concerts since I was 16. Seen a lot of great bands live. But very few bands are able to sound so good live you can't help but be moved by them. Spiritbox is one of the very best bands I have ever seen live and simply can not wait till I get another chance to experience that again! The whole band is incredibly talented and operate as a unit. You can tell how thankful they are to their fans just by their presence on stage. I could never say enough good things about seeing Spiritbox. They are simply incredible! Thank you very much for such a killer and rememberable show! PLEASE come back very soon!!! 🤘
Spiritbox put on an amazing show! The sound was awesome! Wouldn't have missed it for anything!
I love this venue. The ticket prices are unbeatable, and the venue is pretty small and intimate. The staff is always super friendly and willing to help us out.
Stage set up was like there previous tour 2 years ago. Over all sound and visuals were great, they did preform the same set list the whole tour though, kinda wished fir a little change up .
Totally different setup from their tour with Gojira/Korn and I loved it. The stage design allowed them to move around and help people in the far back get to see them, the visuals and cues were on-point. So happy to see them completely sell out Grand Rapids tickets again.
Loved the whole show! Aragon shows are the best . Drinks are overpriced, all the security was a pain getting in ! I really don’t think taking my alive ,allergie pills , Tylenol and heart burn medication was nessary because they were in all one bottle. But the guy with the Vicodin got to bring his in because it was labeled container . It’s all in the garbage now! Still enjoying my 75 dollar bar tab . I loved the show
Been following Spiritbox for some years now, disappointed in myself for not seeing them live previous years when they were in the city. Finally happy to see them as the main event in what they deserve (saw them as an opener before). Courtney’s journey from her previous IWABO band she was apart of to being the face and voice of Spiritbox was quite an exciting ride I am glad to be apart of. It’s a band all the bros, homies, girlies, etc can be apart of and watch. If given the chance, would definitely see her again. Looking forward to what’s next.
GA tickets were reasonable. Quick entry despite large crowd. The staff at The Sylvee is always great. Spiritbox was great, as was the stage setup. Will see SB again. Will visit The Sylvee again.
The show was AWESOME! Spiritbox had one of the best lighting I’ve ever seen! Can’t say enough about Spiritbox! Courtney kicks ass!
Spiritbox put on an awesome show. Sound was a bit muddy at the beginning, but this improved as the show went on. The band nailed it and Courtney didn’t disappoint. I usually avoid the Aragon as they are too strict on prohibited items (never seen it acts of cigarettes and lighters not been allowed). The Aragon can also be difficult to see in as they pack the floor which spills over into the bar area
The venue was wonderful, clean, organized and efficient. Parking was excellent as well. However, the mix for the bands were sub par. The voices weren't clear and half of the drums weren't mic'd through the line arrays. I understand limits of what can be done, but if there's breakdowns with cymbals and I'm not hearing it, or the guitar is louder than the singer. Not that enjoyable. But I had fun nonetheless.
