1 1/2 hours waiting for thirty seconds
by John on 3/25/25Prairie Home Alliance Theater - PeoriaRating: 3 out of 5After purchasing meet and greet tickets for my wife's Christmas present, we stood in line for an hour and a half. When it was our turn to be ushered behind the curtain, we shook hands with Cary and took a quick photo. My wife had about 15 additional seconds to speak (not sure they really wanted her to) and we were ushered out. We grabbed a book that Cary had signed as we were leaving.
We then watched the movie. It was cool watching it with all mega fans that clapped, hooted, and hollered during certain sections of the movie. Then came the question and answer period with Cary. He shared some neat stories about the movie production and other actors. He answered some pre-printed questions from the audience. Then it was over.
The venue was good. It cost twenty dollars to park. The seating was comfortable.
I'm not sure how to make this better, but having the book signing personalized would be a start. Another would be to limit the meet and greet to fewer people to allow for more time. As for the venue, they could have made the meet and greet line more comfortable. Some older fans had to stand for long periods of time. Refreshments would have been a great touch during the wait. The event saddled dinner time. If they started the meet and greet earlier, it would have allowed ticket holders to grab dinner at nearby restaurants. Overall it was a good event because my wife was happy, and that's all that matters.
