About

With more than 20 years as a stand-up comedian, Tom Papa is one of the top comedic voices in the country, finding success as an actor, host, and author, in film, TV, radio and podcasts as well as on the live stage.

The comedian has had 5 highly rated stand-up specials over the years, and he has recently released his 6th stand-up special, Tom Papa: Home Free as a Netflix Original October 29th. Papa holds nothing back in his third Netflix special as his kids are finally out of the house and it's just him, his wife and a bunch of animals ready to return to their glory days. Tom has seen a lot over the years from close calls with a pachinko ball to late night 7-Eleven runs and he's sharing all his thoughts as he parties on into the next stage of life. His other critically acclaimed specials include What A Day!, Tom Papa: You're Doing Great!, Human Mule, Freaked Out and Tom Papa Live in New York City, two of which were directed by Rob Zombie.

On June 6, 2023, Tom released his highly anticipated third book, We're All In This Together.....So Make Some Room. The book compiles comedic essays that aim to unite us through our stupidity. Every mistake has already been made, and this should bring us great comfort as we join together in our fight for survival, or at least in our attempt to get through the day. Whether we like it or not, we're all in this together.

In 2020, Tom released his second book, You're Doing Great! - And Other Reasons To Stay Alive, which was the follow-up to Your Dad Stole My Rake: And Other Family Dilemmas both released by St Martin's Press, making "Summer Must Read" lists from Parade Magazine to The New York Post. Tom is also a contributing writer to the New Yorker Magazine.

Tom's highly rated podcast, Breaking Bread with Tom Papa, features Tom and his guest eating, drinking, and celebrating the true meaning of breaking bread with insightful, revealing and always funny conversations. He also hosts the popular daily Netflix radio show, What A Joke With Papa And Fortune on Sirius XM Channel 93 and the monthly show, Come To Papa Live on Channel 94.

Tom has starred in many fan-favorite films including Paper Spiders where he stared opposite Lily Taylor, The Informant opposite Matt Damon, Analyze That opposite Robert DeNiro, and The Haunted World of El Superbeasto opposite Paul Giamatti, where Tom played the voice of El Superbeasto. He can also be seen alongside Michael Douglas and Matt Damon in the HBO film, Behind the Candelabra, which was directed by Steven Soderbergh and won 11 Emmys.

On TV, Tom hosted the NBC series, The Marriage Ref, which ran for two seasons and had a recurring role opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus on the CBS series, The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Tom is currently on his "The Grateful Bread Tour." For additional dates and info, go to: www.tompapa.com.

  • Toast to Tom Papa

by BATJR on 6/10/25Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Just a good time. Opener, Steve Roger's, was capable and real. Headliner Papa was classic. It is funny getting older. Perspectives change, pace changes, priorities change. Papa hits all the highs and lows in all the right places to make a fantastic evening of laughter and enjoyment. Non political, and that is refreshing. Performance is between PG and R. I would have no problem allowing my 15 year old to attend. Highly reccomend.

  • A great evening of comedy!

by TJ on 6/10/25Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Tom Papa is one of my favorite comedians and he more than delighted. Haven’t been to the Taft in awhile and it was fine. Just had knee surgery and getting to the restroom wasn’t as easy as I’d hoped. Granted, I didn’t ask where the elevator was, but it wasn’t obvious.

  • Funny as always

Tom Papa was on point again. Always insightful and relevant with his humor. He doesn’t look for the easy way out with profanity and smut to tell a great joke or a good story.

  • Could you imagine...

by TJ on 6/9/25Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Tom Papa is an extraordinary comedian who is, in my opinion, underrated. He has a natural ability to make hilarious jokes out of mundane, daily situations. I was in tears laughing for the first 10 minutes of his set, which has never happened for any other professional comedian. There was never a dull moment during the 60-minute show! I'll definitely see him again if/when he returns to Cincinnati.

Tom Papa's set was great! So glad they added KC to the tour. Kira Soltanovich was a great opener & a wonderful surprise (not knowing who it was going to be). 1st time seeing them both perform live and hopefully not the last time.

  • Hysterical show in a classic venue

    by Dave F on 5/19/25Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The tabernacle is my favorite venue in Atlanta. Simply awesome. Tom Papa was his signature self-hysterical

  • Papa went to bed early

by Comedy Night on 5/19/25Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Tabernacle is not the ideal place for a comedy show when ticketmaster sells seats on the 4th floor. You do not realize how far up and away you are for the fans and stage. We were surprised that someone from the venue did not ask people to move down. Also, the bartender up there did not give you an option to tip. "It is already included"? I found out later he was inputting more than 20% tip each purchase but we did not see that only the total amount to sign. Opening act was good and set up Papa very well. Surprised that Papa was only 1 hour. He spent too much time talking to the 3 couples in the front row. Overall he had good jokes and very entertaining.

  • Awesome

Tom never disappoints. Hilarious. A great show and venue. I love him in the smaller venues. This is my 3rd time seeing Tom live and simply love his humor.
