About

CHAKA KHAN IN CONCERT:

The Queen of Funk has no equal: Chaka Khan is, indeed, a living legend. Her live performances are energetic histories of her four-decade long career in music -- from her funk days through her jazz and R&B heydays. Her profound voice carries her fans "Through the Fire," and "Ain't Nobody" loves them better than Chaka. Although Chaka's appearances are less frequent than in her heyday, she delivered big at her 2013 shows, wowing fans and building excitement for her select dates in 2014. Make no mistake: she's got it. She's still got it.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Chicago-born Yvette Marie Stevens came up in rough South Side housing projects before she rose to fame under the name Chaka Khan. Her grandmother introduced her to jazz music at an early age and instilled a life-long love of the genre. As she grew up, she bounced around all-girl singing groups and small bands before joining the Black Panthers and changing her name. While performing in a local band in 1972, she was poached by a new group called Rufus, and with her at the lead, the group signed a major contract with ABC Records just a year later. After several years with Rufus, she proved to be just as talented on her own with the 1978 solo debut Chaka, featuring the ubiquitous hit “I’m Every Woman”. All said and done, she has won ten Grammys and sold over 200 million records worldwide.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"She is a gift of 'honey for the ears!' No one will ever match her talent! We are so fortunate that she shares her gift with the world, and that she has been blessed with an unchanging voice."

"As expected, Chaka torn it up and I couldn't get enough even though she sang for over an hour and a half. I loved every minute of it."

"Very relaxing show! She is a loving artist! Performance great!"

  • Queens Great - Venue Acoustics Not So Great

by Queens Fan on 6/4/25Heritage Bank Center - CincinnatiRating: 4 out of 5

I saw Chaka Khan along with the other Queens including Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, & Stephanie Mills. Each legend's performance and band/singers/dancers (as applicable) were top notch. However, there were multiple sound problems -- I am truly not certain if it was the acoustics of the older venue, the sound equipment or a mix of both. My seat was above and behind where all of the sound equipment was set up at the back of the floor. Ms. Knight started the evening and no one could hear her vocals for the first song. Audience members were chanting, "We Can't Hear!"At the end of the song, she left the stage, they worked on the sound, and she started her set over from the beginning. All of the Queens have such powerful voices, yet the sound was never adjusted for the venue and such they were too loud a vast majority of the time, drowning out the music and/or back up singers. Watching the people at the sound controls, it didn't look like anything was being done--one person was just playing on their cell phone. I really enjoyed seeing the Queens and don't regret going, but was a bit disappointed we didn't get to fully appreciate each artist's musicality due to these issues.

  • The entire concert was absolutely wonderful.

by MITCHI on 6/4/25Gainbridge Fieldhouse - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

The stadium was so full of people! Everybody was truly enjoying the Four Queens. Gladys Knight is still so beautiful, elegant and gracious to her audience. Patti LaBelle was amazing and comical, keeping it real about things like menopause, her heel getting stuck in the stage floor, and losing a button just before she stepped back onto the stage after her clothing change. Stephanie Mills completely wrecked the place. She is just incredible! She still runs across the stage like a little butterfly, looks like her little feet don't even touch the floor. She's just awesome. I loved seeing her son escort her from the stage, too. He's all grown up! Chaka Khan. Oh. My. GOODNESS! SO beautiful, and dynamic, and flawless. Nobody wanted her to leave the stage. None of the Queens disappointed. I love Gladys Knight SO MUCH, just seeing her on the stage got me emotional. She's still beautiful! I am seriously considering traveling to one of the cities they're going to be performing in next September.

  • Terrible sound quality.

by Maurice on 6/4/25Heritage Bank Center - CincinnatiRating: 4 out of 5

Happy to see her performing. The sound quality was awful. For most of the concert I couldn’t hear the singers, the bands were too loud. From beginning to end. The crowd was chanting “We can’t hear” at the beginning of the concert but no adjustments were made.

  • Epic Concert for the ages! Once in a lifetime show!!

by CH on 6/4/25Heritage Bank Center - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Due to careful planning, and early arrival, everything went smoothly, from parking , to entry into the facility, to seating, and even our exit. The show was fantastic! Chaka has always been my favorite and she did not disappoint. Neither did Gladys, Patty, or Stephanie!! Each artist brought their A game, each band was different, and each performer added something special to her performance. The crowd was a big party of happy people who sang and danced to favorite songs, mostly of the 70s and 80s, with a few more modern ones mixed in! It was worth every penny, and the trip to Cincinnati!!

  • It was great

by Jap on 6/4/25Gainbridge Fieldhouse - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

It was great, alot of stairs to get to the floor though especially when carrying food ana far walking distance to smoke 🚬... and when you know where your seats are at but have to verify an attendant was kinda unpleasant when I know I paid for them an knew where I was going

  • The evening was a blast

by San Fran on 6/4/25Heritage Bank Center - CincinnatiRating: 4 out of 5

Chaka Khan was great. Her show was the best I have seen in awhile.

  • Unrecognizable screeching

by Disappointed on 6/4/25Gainbridge Fieldhouse - IndianapolisRating: 2 out of 5

Very disappointing. Instead of actually singing, Chaka did a lot of screeching. As if to prove she can still hit the high notes. The backup singers did sing, but you could hardly tell what the songs were because the sound system was so bad.

  • Amazing

  • Not in sync

by Concert Lover on 6/4/25Gainbridge Fieldhouse - IndianapolisRating: 3 out of 5

Chaka did not appear as though she really cared about her performance. I went an saw her a couple of years ago at the Four Winds Casino and it was not a favorable concert. We drove over an hour to only hear her sing 45 minutes of snip its of her songs. Her drummer drummed for about 15-20 min of the entire concert. People drove and got hotel rooms for that concert so needless to say if she was not with Patty, Gladys and Stephanie- I would never go see her in concert again. Glad she was last on the Four Queens. After 3 songs I left.

  • I Love Chaka

I’ve always loved her since I was a child. Just pleased to see all the women still alive and performing.

  • Amazing Exciting Awesome

by Teela on 6/4/25United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing her perform. Chaka was amazing. I could not keep still in my seat. I was amazed about all the talent in the building at one time, I went alone and definitely enjoyed myself. A show you should not miss.

  • Awesome show

by TG on 6/4/25Gainbridge Fieldhouse - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show! I was taken back by all 4 performances. I almost threw my draws on the stage when chaka kahn came out. Jk

  • Great Concert

by Toni on 6/4/25Gainbridge Fieldhouse - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

All 4 ladies did great!!! My only issue is seat choice. I would have preferred choosing end seats since I had my 78 year old relative attending the concert. Ticketmaster best available for the past two events hasn't always been the best. Especially, when other seats that are available remain empty.

  • they were awesome

by Christy on 6/4/25Gainbridge Fieldhouse - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I love the fact that they started and ended on time back-to-back to back-to-back! Experienced Legends. I didn't expect nothing but perfections and that's what they gave me.

  • Queens

by Mousie on 6/4/25Gainbridge Fieldhouse - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Every performance was Perfect! I loved the way they had the floor to ceiling screens for better viewing of the performancer. Those who had their images in the large screen behind the ban was fantastic. Every single person who performed was grest.

  • The queens tour

by Djgeno on 6/4/25Gainbridge Fieldhouse - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

To see Stephanie Mills ,Gladys Knight,Patti Labelle and Chaka Khan on the same show on paper sounds amazing. And I have to say they didn’t disappoint. Great nostalgic night of soul music. Production wise they used a revolving stage. This made the breaks short and the show moving but I noticed on Patti and Chaka it took almost two songs to get the Mic right. Still a superb event.

  • The Legends Still Got It

by Sybil on 6/4/25Gainbridge Fieldhouse - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Chaka Khan, Stephanie Mills, Gladys Knight, and Patti LaBelle were all incredible! Their voices sounded amazing and they still looked good. They still know how to put on a great show!
