CLOUD NOTHINGS IN CONCERT:

Cleveland punk band Cloud Nothings have established a heavy cult following since their formation in 2010. Frontman Dylan Baldi leads the jam session-like performances on stage with his raw vocals and grungy guitar playing, feeding off of the hard-hitting drums and thumping bass lines from his bandmates. After touring with indie rockers Atlas Genius and Silversun Pickups and selling out shows across the US, Cloud Nothings have evolved into high-energy performers, cranking up the volume for their 2014 show dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Singer/songwriter Dylan Baldi originally started Cloud Nothings as a solo project, recording his songs in GarageBand in his parents' basement. Baldi's music attracted attention from Carpark Records, landing him a record deal which led to the release of his self-titled debut in 2011. The album received positive widespread acclaim from  Pitchfork Media and NME for the band's gritty guitars and wholesome, punk-rock sound. Their sophomore album, Attack on Memory, created even more buzz with its release the following year, earning a spot on Pitchfork's "Best New Music" list and a performance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. 2014’s Here and Nowhere Else may be the band’s most cohesive, intricate album to date, but it remains as fast-paced as anything they’ve done in the past. Cloud Nothings will have fans head-banging and rocking out to their vigorous live sets on their 2014 tour.

Absolutely everything you want in a rock band. Legitimately reminds me why I love live music and how concerts made me feel in the 90s.

I had listened to a couple of Cloud Nothing's songs and bought a ticket for $20. Always like the Teragram. Wow and wow and wow, This band is so in sync with each other. Every song pulled me in a little more. Had had had to get closer to the stage and the energy of people dancing. Played I think 3 songs for an encore. Coulda stayed for more.

Really fun, their songs already pack a good punch but they kicked it up a notch for the live show. If you like them, you'll love the show

  • Awful

by Capio1980 on 10/24/12Royal Oak Music Theatre - Royal OakRating: 1 out of 5

They opened with Atlas Genius for Silversun Pickups and were terrible. Just a wall of indiscriminant noise. The beauty of music lies in the contrasts that are developed in a song (loud moments only make an impact if there are also quieter moments). The drummer's overuse of cymbals was obnoxious. They had no stage presence and just stared down at their instruments the entire time, often not even facing the audience. I felt like I was watching a really bad high school band practice in their garage. I have no idea how they got chosen for this tour because they were totally out of place with the other two great bands. Most of the audience was booing and shaking their heads.

  • Cloud Nothings deliver raw passion

I had a feeling Cloud Nothings would bring it live and they totally did.

  • Cloud Nothings Rock!

by Robbot on 3/27/12Brighton Music Hall - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Grabbed two tickets to the Cloud Nothings' show at Brighton Music Hall in Boston this past Sunday and I'm extremely glad I did. They were great and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they sell out every club on this tour. This is probably the last tour where they'll be playing very small clubs for awhile, so get off the couch and go!
