Jerry Seinfeld got his start in 1976 at a local open mic night in New York City, but it wasn't until several early-'80s appearances on the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson that he reached mainstream recognition. As creator and co-writer of Emmy Award-winning sitcom Seinfeld, he appeared in every episode of the show's nine-season span. Since his days on the show, Seinfeld has launched his own web series titled Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and put his comedy in writing with the 1993 book Seinlanguage.
