About

The Fabulous Superlatives have been five-time Grammy-winning country singer Marty Stuart’s backing band since Stuart released the album Country Music in 2003. The group includes Stuart on guitar and mandolin, Kenny Vaughan on guitar, Harry Stinson on drums and Chris Scruggs on bass and steel guitar, and all members of the group contribute vocals. Their album releases include 2005’s Souls’ Chapel, 2017’s California-inspired Way Out West and 2023’s Altitude. Their 2006 Live at the Ryman album earned a Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album. In 2022, Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives were inducted into Nashville’s Musician’s Hall of Fame. Marty Stuart began his career as a teenager playing alongside bluegrass great, Lester Flatt. He was also a member of Johnny Cash’s touring band for over a decade. In 2023 it was announced that Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives would join Hank Williams Jr. on his 2024 U.S. tour.

  • The show was STUPENDOUS

    by Kenny W on 5/26/25TempleLive Peoria - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

This band should be heard by anybody who loves music of ANY genre, it will be a lifetime memory. Every member of the group an expert at his craft- and experts at one another's! These guys are renowned for being excruciatingly detailed in creating their sound and when you hear them live you will know it. We traveled from the St. Louis area to Peoria to see this show and were not disappointed. Will do it again if they come within 200 miles.

  • Best Show in a While!

by Kevin Casey on 3/11/25Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Marty Stuart and those amazing Superlatives started on 10 and kept it going all night. I used to live in Nashville and used the see these guys in all their iterations. It was like old times as they rolled out one hot number after another. The Superlatives all got their chance to shine in the spotlight, as well as Marty. This whole band is so talented and professional it is a joy to watch and listen to them work! It was also a great date night as my wife enjoyed this musical choice from start to finish. Come back to Knoxville guys!

  • Haven't lost a beat!

by BBailey on 3/11/25Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Even after all these years these guys haven't lost a beat. They are music royalty, true professionals, and gave one of the best shows I've ever seen. They're engaged with the crowd which is always great. They play such a variety of music it's hard to even assign a genre to them. Of course my favorites are the surf music they break into now and then. But seriously they are one of the most well produced and well rehearsed stage bands I've ever seen. It is a rarity these days to hear a band that sounds better on stage than even in studio. My family loves Marty Stuart and the fabulous superlatives!

  • Marty Stuart show at the Bijou

    by Kenny B on 3/11/25Bijou Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives were fantastic! They played an eclectic mix of music that was enjoyed by all. HIs opening act, Mae Estes, was fantastic as well. I look forward to seeing each of the acts again in the near future.
