Danilo Perez Tickets

This was an interesting program, and not what I was expecting. Instead of straight ahead Latin jazz, there was what I would call experimental sound with some Latin influences. The band was on point and Danilo has an infectious energetic personality.

Wonderful trio provided consistently advanced improvisational skills to extend the compositional framework of Danilo Perez, who played grand piano and electronic keyboard. John Patitucci on 6-string electric bass guitar,, and especially his double bass with extra low notes extension, displayed virtuoso skills throughout. Adam Cruz played with dramatic dynamics that were at times startling during his drum solos. LeFrak Concert Hall is a superior venue at the Queens College Aaron Copland School of Music, suitable for the relatively lengthy selections. The audience was attentive to the demanding original compositions, and enthusiastically took part in the audience participation encore. Glad I attended. Steve Tintweiss, Class of 1975

My husband and I attended this venue especially because my husband enjoys jazz. We were very disappointed with the concert. It started out very disjointed. If you've ever walked into a high school band room when everyone's playing at once, that's what their first song reminded me of. I noticed several people leaving after the first song. We thought it would get better but it didn't. I truly wish I could get a refund on this one.
