Midge Ure Erupts in Fort Lauderdale

He's taken a stadium-sized show and condensed it into a nightclub setting. I was expecting a more toned-down event, but was pleasantly surprised with the larger-than-life performance that Midge gave the small crowd. His band Ultravox was a stadium caliber group performing all over Europe and other countries, but never achieving success in the US. It's a shame, they were an amazing band. Midge came out and did an early Ultravox song, "Passing Strangers" to start the show off with a big bang. His band, who he shared with Paul Young, was very tight, doing an excellent job with the material. Midge even threw in the classic Visage song "Fade to Gray" (which he wrote). He performed it somewhat tongue-in-check, but the crowd loved it. The last four songs were a musical assault that kept getting stronger as it went on. "Vienna", "All Stood Still", "Hymn" and "Dancing with Tears in My Eyes"; some of the most dynamic Ultravox songs performed perfectly. Midge did an excellent job throughout. He really seemed to be enjoying himself. He wasn't just going through the motions. Midge put his heart and soul into everything he did, and proved that he was an outstanding guitar player too. An excellent show!
