About

Indie pop trio Foster the People came together in Los Angeles in 2009. The group is known for psychedelic, dance-orientated pop and rock which spans many genres. Their 2011 album Torches has sold over 321,000 copies and their single “Pumped Up Kicks” was the sixth-best-selling digital song in the same year, selling 3.84 million copies.
The band was formed by Mark Foster in 2009. He provides lead vocals and plays several instruments, including keyboards and guitar. His fellow band mates comprise Cubbie Finkton on bass and Mark Pontius on drums and percussion. Their first song “Pumped Up Kicks” was an internet success in 2011 and the group was offered a record deal. The band slowly began to build up a fan base by making appearances at small venues and appearing at several music festivals, including South by Southwest and at Coachella. They continued to perform and were booked for a month-long residency of concerts at the Echo night club in LA. By the time they came to perform for the third time, there were hundreds of people queuing to get in and the group were beginning to capture public attention.
Their single “Pumped Up Kicks” was released in 2011 and gained airplay on alternative radio stations, entering the Billboard Rock Songs Chart as well as the Alternative Songs Chart. In May of the same year, the track entered the Billboard Hot 100. Later that month, the group released the album Torches, which entered the Billboard 200 at No. 8. The band then embarked upon a sell-out tour in the US and Europe that lasted 10 months.
The band continued to build up a following, with ”Pumped Up Kicks” breaking into the mainstream top 40 and spending eight weeks at No. 3. Foster the People have scooped several awards for their music, including Top Rock Song for “Pumped up Kicks” at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. They have also been nominated numerous times, including two Grammy Award nominations for “Pumped Up Kicks” and Torches. At the awards ceremony, the band performed alongside Maroon 5 with The Beach Boys in celebration of the Beach Boys' fiftieth anniversary. In addition, the band have been nominated for two NME Awards and two MTV Music Video Awards. Their latest album is called SuperModel.

  • Such a Blast!

by Smelton on 3/9/25House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

I woke up on Thursday so excited for the show! Seriously a kid at Christmas! I see them every time they come to town and they never disappoint. I am such a huge fan of since the very beginning and I love their new music. I was sad about some of the new songs they elected not to play, but people that want to hear Torches must have been thrilled. It was a treat to hear The Truth, Lambs Wool and Miss You. Honestly, they could play anything and I would be jumping up and down and cheering loudly for them! If they make another lap around for this tour, I will be there singing along with them!

I'm not a fan of their music but my son wanted to go for his bday. They really won me over-it was a very good show!

  • Worth the wait

by Sueblue on 3/4/25Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

After 7 long years Foster the People finally went on tour. The band is amazing Mark is a true entertainer and a genius musician. Absolutely worth the wait. The Tabernacle is a great place to see bands and it had great food and alcohol prices. I had a fantastic night watching one of my favorite bands!

  • Band was stellar but…

    by Trishydo2 on 3/3/25Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Foster the people was amazing. However, live nation’s handling of the VIP was confusing at best.

  • Energy

by AmyH on 3/3/25Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Great show! Both bands had great energy, good sound in the venue, and kept the crowd engaged! I hope another seven years doesn’t pass before we see them again.

  • Fantastic venue and Foster the People Never Disappoints

by UCF Fan Girl on 3/3/25Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This is my first time at The Tabernacle in Atlanta. Definitely worth the flight from Orlando! Great venue with lots of amazing architectural features. This was my 3rd time seeing Foster the People, and I’m so glad they’re back to touring again. Fantastic show from start to finish. And don’t sleep on Good Neighbours! Perfect opener with great songs and energy for days! They also interacted with the brief quite well.

  • Electrifying Performance

by Logan on 3/2/25The Ritz - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Foster The People in person. They did not disappoint. Their music is a unique blend of pop and rock which attracts fans of both genres. If you like either genre, this is the group for you. I appreciate that their music is diverse yet consistent. The light show that displayed in sync with the music added another mesmerizing layer to their performance. I thoroughly enjoyed the show.

  • Foster The People

by RichR on 3/2/25The Ritz - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

saw Foster The People at the Ritz in North Carolina and they were really great. Played all my favorites plus their new song Lost In Space which I love. We did the VIP experience at the Ritz and it was great. Comfort chair to sit in plus bar service. Really good sound system as well.
